To lift the economy, Japan could lift the cap on foreign tourists

Local reports say that Japanese officials may further relax border controls for foreign travelers as it is a way to boost their economy. Seiji Kihara, the deputy chief cabinet secretary, said that the weak yen was the most effective and attractive for inbound tourism.

The yen slid to the lowest point against the US dollar in 24 years last week. It dropped about 1.7 percent. He said that this situation will lead to a cap on daily entries that could be lifted in the “not so distant future”.

Japan had barred foreign visitors because of the measures to slow the spread of COVID in the last two years. Overseas, the visitors were even banned from the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic games last year by Japan. The country now has about 50,000 foreigners, up from 20,000, and they are no longer required to travel with a guide.

A few reports suggest the government may scrap the daily cap on tourist arrivals altogether. The US dollar will gain strength against other currencies as investors keep a watchful eye on the Federal Reserve interest rate hikes.

Space must be protected for the benefit of all people

Kamala Harris’s words at a NASA event:

Space remains a place of undiscovered and unrealized opportunity, and it is our responsibility to work together to guide humanity forward into this new frontier and to realize the incredible potential of space for all people. Space can and must be protected for the benefit of all people. There is so much we still don’t know and so much we still haven’t done.

There was a national space council meeting held at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston on Friday. The Vice President also underscored the important research conducted on the international space station that will enable long-duration stays on the moon and future human missions.

For more than 50 years, NASA satellites have provided open-source and publicly available data on the earth’s land, temperature, and weather. Let us tell you that Bill Nelson, the administrator of NASA, said that the new earth information will allow the public to see the way the earth moves and also guide decision makers to mitigate and adapt.

Nelson’s words:

Just like we use mission control to monitor operations during spaceflight, we’re embarking on this effort to monitor conditions here on our home planet, and it will be available to everyone in an easy-to-access format.

The planning of the Earth information center is or we can say that in the initial phase, it will provide you with an interactive visual display of imagery and data from NASA.

According to a report: India’s telcos are set to spend $19.5 billion on 5G infrastructure by 2025

The telecom carriers of India are expected to invest about $19.5 billion in the development of advanced infrastructure for 5G by 2025. The reports show that 5G will benefit the Indian economy by $455 billion between 2023 and 2040. It is more than 0.6% of the GDP forecast for 2040. Let us tell you that the benefit is about 0.6% of the GDP forecast for 2040 and reflects the large number of 5G use cases that could be implemented in the main sectors of India’s economy.

The finding shows that the 5G benefits are expected to be realized in the new applications in the manufacturing sector as well as the retail, ICT, and agricultural sectors. The Indian government also assigned two carriers of 250 MHz each in the E-band to address the current need, which supports the 5G rollout. It may not be enough in the 5G era given the requirement for high capacity and also increased data traffic.

The report also said that clear policy guidelines on the allocation of the backhaul spectrum are necessary. 5G will be a key to enabling the enterprise digital transformation process across manufacturing, energy, utilities, banking, transportation, healthcare, and retail in the country. Both the consumer and the enterprise segment present significant opportunities for 5G services in India.

New country governors will tackle corruption

There are almost 47 counties in the constitution of Kenya. The new governors were elected there. The interesting part is that almost 30 of them are first-timers on the job without having much experience.

By 2010, Kenya had promulgated a new constitution and it demarcated the nation into 47 devolves. These units are run by the country’s government-headed governors. Most of them were new, and they hit the ground running when they were sworn in on the 25th of August. People are hoping that they will give strong directives, especially on the anti-corruption and cost-cutting agendas.

Some of the discoveries found that they have made since taking over seem to lend credence to a suspicion harbored. Most of the corruption was simply devolved to the countries after Kenya had moved away from a centralized system of government.

Let’s take an example. The governor of Kissi, Simba Arati, revealed that the nation had only 82 vehicles and an estimated 256 drivers on its payroll. Many of them even did not have valid driving licenses.

On September 3rd, Mr. Arati told Citizen TV that there were about 861 individuals on his payroll whose job descriptions were not clear yet. And he is not alone, other governors are also ordering the financial audit and staff headcounts.

Wavinya Ndeti of Machakos, another governor, revealed that some government vehicles don’t even have number plates and yet the budget has been set aside just for the transport department.

The offsite mode share of software services exported by Indian IT service companies increased to 88.8% in the fiscal as compared to 82.8% five years ago. This is the data that came out by the RBI on Thursday. All this implies an increase in the share of services offered and work done from India for the global IT service.

Computer services accounted for about two-thirds of total software services exports. BPO services accounted for about 84% of exports of IT services. Private limited companies accounted for almost 60% of the total export of software. On the other hand, export of the public limited companies declined during this year.

The total export of software services increased by 16% during 2021-22 and the services include affiliates of Indian companies and foreign companies. The local software business stood at $15.2 billion USD, and the US is the major destination. Of the foreign countries, the US shares 42.5% of the software business and of the total business, followed by the UK at 23.5%.

Let us tell you that the US and Canada were the top destinations for software exports. Now followed by Europe, about half of that was attributed to the UK.
